Designated Homeless

This past Friday, our area was battered by a line of very strong thunderstorms that produced incredible damage around the Chattanooga area. Unfortunately, that damage included our house!
In our front yard, we HAD a large oak tree that sat about 10 or so feet from the house. A strong downburst hit right over our neighborhood and, as a result, toppled said oak tree onto our house! I will post pictures of the damage later this evening, but here is a description of the damage:
- 4 holes punched into the roof by branch stumps.
- 1 dormer completely flattened
- top roof gable crushed in several places by tree branches
- front gutter ruined by tree trunk
- 3-4 rafters broken by tree, one of which came through the ceiling in the living room, opening a large swath of the ceiling and drowning the living room with water
- 1 couch ruined by water and drywall damage
- carpet ruined in living room (which had to be cut out to get the water soaked up before it ruined the subfloor)
With all of this damage, Kelly and I are not living at home and are staying with my parents. This has been slightly stressful, but we’re all making it. Hopefully after we get the construction estimate today, we’ll be able to get the repairs started soon and our lives can get back to normal.

As always, if you need anything, just let us know! We’re glad the family is safe and hopefully the repairs will not take too long!

Hello! A co-worker of mine (Garrett Bartley) sent me this link. I live down the street in 1984 Hardwood Lane. What a small world! I’m sorry to see the damage the storm caused to your house!
Luckily I only had downed tree’s in my backyard. If you ever need anything, just let me know!

Thanks, Mike! We’ll definitely have to meet up sometime, as I only know 3 of my neighbors and I would like to know more of them.

Also, if you smell coffee roasting in your neighborhood, that would be Mike.
Maybe he’ll even share some ice cream with you.
